Are you interested in small-scale local economies and the role they can play in sustainable futures? We’d love for you to join us in sharing your ideas, questions, and concerns with members of Community-Wealth.org and the Demcoracy Collaberative.
Community-Wealth.Org is a project of the Democracy Collaborative, an organization with the goal of sustaining “a wide range of projects involving research, training, policy development, and community-focused work designed to promote an asset-based paradigm and increase support for the field across-the-board.”
We’ve touched on this organization before in our post about both Gar Alperovitz and the Evergreen Cooperatives,.
According to the organization’s website, their goal is to “change the prevailing paradigm of community economic development,” moving toward a system that is sustainable, fueled by slow-growth, and both human and land rights.
These goals include:
- Broadening ownership and stewardship over capital
- Democracy at the workplace
- Stabilizing community and emphasizing locality
- Equitable and inclusive growth
- Environmental, social, and institutional sustainability
We’ll be learning more about this organization tomorrow when we speak with Steve Dubb, Research Director at the Democracy Collaborative. We’d love for you to be a part of the conversation. Do you have questions or comments you’d like for us to pass on to members of the DC? Specific local economic initiatives of which they should be aware?
